“This is not my first temporal anomaly.”: The Good Wife - 314
The two most important things about this episode for me were:
- that giant phony smile finally froze on WSC’s face. Good job, Alicia. Well played, Will and Kalinda….
Ahaha! Natalie would be brilliant but the likelihood of America Ferrera returning is slim, I feel. I heard Parker Posey is returning so I am praying Eli/Vanessa share some scenes at least. Nodding my head as I read your post. I don’t think I’ve enjoyed Eli as little as I did in that ep. I feel like he’s being used as comic relief and I don’t like it. That non-swearing crap? Stacie is irritating as hell and pairing her with Eli is just…I don’t get where the writers are coming from, other than ‘this’ll make people laugh’.
*le sigh* I feel you.
I know the chances of Natalie’s return are slim to none (this season) but this episode triggered some nostalgic feelings. :) I loved and still love the idea of Eli being integrated into the Lockhart/Gardner family - we’ve had some great, solid scenes and character moments as a result - but in the last few eps I felt there was little sense of direction for his character. It’s like he is just there, wandering around without a real purpose. I, for one, think his job is quite fascinating. It offers loads of opportunities for various story and character developments - opportunities that remain mostly untapped by the writers. For instance, in the latest episode we only get a few throwaway lines about what he does and the rest of his screentime is basically wasted on those weird scenes with Stacie. It could be handled so much better and much more elegantly, IMO. I hope Vanessa’s return re-focuses his character. I still love him to pieces and try to savor every on-screen moment, but I think his storyline needs to gain better traction and more weight.
